UpNext: Kampala Fashion Week 2015

kampala fashion week 2015

The 2nd edition of Kampala Fashion Week (KFW) is just around the corner and it’s going to be all NEW and (hopefully) BIGGER and BETTER. This year’s designer showcase is being held at Acacia Mall’s rooftop on November 12th, and there’s tickets on sale at KAYMU** and SmartTickets. As we count down, to D-Day, how about we head down memory lane…

Here’s a recap of last year’s KFW on Storify.

The Inaugural edition of KFW was nothing short of spectacular! Great Lakes Arts Association partnered with LDG Productions to put off 3 days of stunning models including Aamito showcasing couture and ready-to-wear collections that culminated in a grand finale at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Last year, a good number of local designers such as Natasha Kainembabazi, Gloria Wavamunno, Ras Kasozi, Sylvia Owori, Juliana Nasasira among others showcased their products. My list is sadly not extensive because there’s hardly any information available online.

But this year, we already have the designer’s schedule out and it promises to be exciting as Sylvia Owori opens the show, followed by Kwesh in collaboration with accessories brand – Kona, Haute Baso, Definition Africa working with Australian teenager Cirra-Sue, Vogue Atelier, Catherine & Sons, Gloria Wavamunno in partnership with Linda Lwanga’s ZANAA jewellery brand, J&Kainembabazi, Morine Designers and finally, José Hendo closing.

To add to that, there’s the last of this year’s KFW workshops on the 13th, and KFW-affiliated pop-up shop at UMA showgrounds on Nov 14th with tickets at just 15K!

So, all that’s left for us is: have you gotten your tickets yet? Are you ready for the 12th?  KFW seems to be ready for us.

NB:  KAYMU**    —-  I can’t seem to find any Kaymu link that works for the tickets, and a search on the site yields nothing. Hmm.
